We are very proud to have recently come 2nd in the Smaller Clubs Cup (we have under 30 members) at the recent County Rally! We are a very friendly bunch and are part of West Group! The George Inn, Brompton Regis or Brompton Regis Village Hall on Mondays, once a month at 8.00 pm. 2009 Year Report This has been another very successful year for Kingsbrompton YFC! Starting with Dulverton carnival, an annual competition in which many West Group club participate. This year’s theme was “Mamma Mia”; the float took shape at the last minute as usual for YFC but looked good with some cracking costumes! All the hard work paid off and the club won the “Best YFC” category and came second in the “Comic Section”. Between the carnival and Christmas the club held a disco where £600 was raised, we also attended the annual Somerset County Ball and managed to fill two buses to venture down to Exeter for the Devon Federation County Ball. After a few major social events Christmas was upon us, the members tuned their voices in preparation for two very successful nights carol singing. The club raised money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance as this charity provides an excellent service especially in the remote areas surrounding us. (Exmoor!!!!) We handed over a cheque for £320, let’s hope we raise more again next year. In between Carol Singing, Christmas and New Year we had managed to make a start on our pantomime. This year we decided on “Puss in Boots”, with plenty of rehearsals and orders from Mr Ware the pantomime came together nicely. Even though we could not make it too quite a few of the meetings due to extreme weather conditions! We had a lot of junior members keen to take part; everyone performed really well on the night, especially the juniors, some of which were on the stage for the first time. We came third overall which was excellent; I don’t think we were too far behind second place! More socialising followed after this with a large turnout at the West Group Ball, a very successful night, roll on next year! Some members spent a weekend at the seaside for the South West Area Competitions weekend. Although a certain person was feeding the toilet by 7pm on the Saturday night! After SWA there was a short break before Three Counties Ball; we managed to get lost again and had to kick out the boys to cross the Clifton suspension bridge as we were too heavy! Must have been the weight of the bus! Everyone had a really good night, one particular member who thought that the band were so good they deserved to have her bra! Back to some serious stuff, the next event was the West Group Rally held at Coombe Farm, Exford. A good day with plenty of competitions and the usual YFC games involving lots of water, tyres plastic sheets etc…! We managed to gain second place overall and Mel Julian won the Senior Girls Cookery cup. The West Group Rally was closely followed by the County Rally, again with the usual YFC games and competitions with most members getting soaked and having a laugh! Lots of our juniors went along and took part in a wide range of competitions which is always good to see! We had lots of members in the Tug of War team who I think may need to do some weights before next year! We managed to come 4th overall and we won the Under 30 Members Cup for the second year! The final highlight of the year was our trip to the local paintballing centre. We split into two teams and put on our combats. One member didn’t quite understand the concept and shot herself in the foot! Jason Heard wished he wasn’t the club Chairman for the evening as he became a good target, leaving with 15 bruises on his back! Let’s hope the next YFC year is as successful! About Us
